The Cincinnati based non-profit arts organization and gallery, Manifest, invites visual artists and designers to submit works that examine what underlies the visible: the structural, psychological, geological, social, mechanical, or conceptual systems that sustain, complicate, or destabilize the world above. There is the world you can see, and there is everything beneath it: the systems that support it, the feelings behind it, what you infer, what you suspect, and what may be kept hidden from you. Beneath every surface lie systems, structures, tensions, histories, and intentions. Foundations anchor cities. Root systems sustain forests. Infrastructures distribute power and water. Emotional currents shape behavior. Motives influence action. Much of what determines experience remains out of view, yet without these underlying structures, everything would collapse. $45 for up to THREE entries submitted. $5 per each additional entry. Includes honorarium of $50 for each exhibiting artist, and Grand Jury Award of $1,000 for one jury-selected work from among the exhibits on view.
