From Black and white to sixty shades of gray... this exhibit looks at all types of black and white artwork and photography and challenges the artist to convey their message in a world without color. From subtle shades of grays to broad and bold strokes of black ink or paint, we are seeking all types of work from conceptual to realistic. We are looking for all types of works--painting, sculpture, photography and more--works that show off your ability and creativity to work with the subject of B & W art. Give viewers and collectors a chance to see your capabilities... The main criteria for selection is creativity and fresh approaches in the artwork and use of the subject matter. Accepted artists will be Juried for Gold and Silver cash prizes and 1st and 2nd Honorary awards. All accepted artists will be posted on the 3 Square Art website and our social media platforms. Top artists will be selected by 3 Square Art to be represented in our online gallery coming in 2019.

Lewiston Council on the Arts announces a Call to Artists for its juried art and fine craft competition and show on Aug 10 & 11, 2019 in the historic Village of Lewiston, NY. Over 25,000 people will attend this much anticipated outdoor festival, which attracts art lovers from Western New York and Southern Ontario, as well as international visitors from Niagara Falls, 10 minutes away. The festival is Lewiston's signature event and features work by 175 exceptional artists and fine crafters. Categories include Painting, Graphic Arts (Drawing, Printmaking, T-Shirts, Computer Generated Art); Mixed Media; Photography; Pottery/Ceramics/Glass; Fiber; Jewelry; Sculpture; and Wood. From functional to surreal, one of a kind and limited edition art works form an unparalleled collection that can only be seen here once each year. Prizes in 9 categories and Best Booth Display. College Alley will again feature the work of high school and college students to provide them an opportunity to gain exhibiting experience without adhering to the more stringent requirements for professional artists. The ArtZone, a free hands-on activity area will be staffed from Noon to 4pm each day. Street musicians and performers are welcome to add their special ambiance to the show. Converge Las Cruces Art Gallery, located at the Southwest Environmental Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico, announces The Face of Climate Change, a juried group photography exhibition. Global warming, rising sea levels, shrinking habitats and extreme weather are all well known effects of climate change. The exhibition: The Face of Climate Change, will examine through a photographers eye the changes occurring around us everyday. The exhibition seeks to document, comment and share our current visual environmental status. The exhibition will run from May 1, 2019 to June 14, 2019 at the Southwest Environmental Center, a non-profit grassroots conservation organization based in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Pose and Gesture, Image and Identity, Documentary and Street, Travel, Constructed Narrative, Self Portrait, Environmental, Vernacular and Snapshot, Family Narrative, Fashion and Nude, all have visual statements to make in the world of portraiture photography. What is the character, attitude and expression of contemporary portrait photography? Juror: Todd JohnsonTodd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery. Todd received his MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. He has been a photography portfolio reviewer for Photolucida and has juried The Drawers Program for Blue Sky Gallery. Todd has worked as an independent photography curator organizing shows by international photographers in Portland, OR, at Linfield College and Gallery Homeland. He has been a college photography instructor for 15 years in Portland.

Artist Grant provides a $500 USD grant to one visual artist each grant cycle. The deadline for the current grant cycle is 15 April 2019. We invite visual artists 18 and older from anywhere in the world to apply. Visual artists working in the following media may apply: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture (of any type of material), ceramics, mixed/multiple medias, installation, and other new or alternative medias. We regret that we do not accept submissions for music, theatre, or dance. open-theme | unconstrained : wide, uncluttered, unbridled, expansive, emptied, unimpeded, unobstructed, unrestrained, clear, spacious, unbarred …… Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work to an open-theme call for entry to A Smith Gallery by April 15, 2019. Entries of 11 or more images are eligible for a review of submitted entry images by the gallery directors. The entry fee is $38 for the first 5 images and $7 for each additional image. Fifty to fifty five images will be selected for exhibition and shown at the gallery from May 31 to July 14, 2019. A reception will be held on June 29, 2019 from 4 to 8pm. A Blurb full color catalogue of the exhibit with all the accepted entries will be available for purchase. Awards are $325 for Juror’s Award, $250 and an exhibition catalogue for Director’s Award, five Honorable Mentions each receiving an exhibition catalogue and $100 for Visitors’ Choice Award. Juror for "open-theme | unconstrained" will be Catherine Couturier owner/director of Catherine Couturier Gallery in Houston, Texas.
