L.A. Photo Curator 'Companions'

'Companions' “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” — Anatole France. Pets become part of the rhythm of our lives. They greet us, wait for us, follow us from room to room, make us laugh, comfort us, and quietly take up space in our hearts. Over time, they become far more than animals we care for — they become companions. Companions is an open call celebrating the pets who share our lives and the bonds we form with them. We invite photographs that capture personality, affection, devotion, humor, tenderness, routine, and remembrance. The work may be joyful, playful, intimate, quiet, or reflective. We welcome images of dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, horses, reptiles, and all companion animals. Photographs may honor a pet who is with you now or one whose memory remains close. We are interested in photographs that reveal more than what an animal looks like — images that speak to presence, connection, and the unique place a beloved pet holds in someone’s life. All photographic approaches are welcome, including portraiture, documentary, fine art, mobile photography, and mixed media. Show us the companions who have made a home in your life — and in your heart. ALL WORK SUBMITTED WILL BE SHOWN IN AN ONLINE GROUP EXHIBITION. Juror: Laurie Freitag (Director L.A. Photo Curator).
