Artists are invited to submit work for exhibition alongside members of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours at the RI Exhibition 2027. The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI) seeks the best in contemporary watercolour and water-based media painting for the RI 215th Exhibition. The exhibition is the largest of its kind, featuring over 400 works from around the world. Alongside the work of its elected members, leading figures in contemporary watercolour and water-based media, the RI welcomes both emerging and established artists who push the boundaries of the medium through traditional and experimental approaches. 'Founded in 1831 on principles of inclusivity, the RI has long provided a platform where artists at different stages of their careers can exhibit side by side. That ethos remains central to the Institute’s work today.' - Juliette Losq PRI, President. Successful applicants can expect: • To have their selected work included in the RI 215th Exhibition at Mall Galleries, in the gallery, and online. • Eligibility to win prizes and awards worth over £15,000. • An invitation to the Private View. • The chance to sell their work. • To be part of a network of exhibiting artists dating back to 1831 when the RI was founded. Submissions are ONLINE ONLY and open from 12 October 2026 to 22 January 2027.
