REMEDY, in partnership with Lincoln Museum and Usher Gallery, has launched a new £5,000 photography commission inviting photographers and artists working with photography to create a new body of work exploring the representation of health. The selected artist will receive a £3,500 artist fee and a £1,500 production budget to develop new work for exhibition as part of REMEDY’s 2027 programme. The commission asks a simple question: What role can photography play in changing how we see, understand and talk about health? Health shapes every aspect of human experience, yet many experiences of illness, disability and care remain unseen or are represented through limited perspectives. REMEDY is seeking proposals that challenge existing narratives, offer new perspectives and explore how photography can contribute to wider conversations around health and care. Applications are welcomed from photographers and artists at any stage of their career. Proposals can begin as an outline idea rather than a fully developed project, with the selected artist supported to develop the work through research, engagement and collaboration during the commission period. REMEDY supports photographers to create work that encourages reflection, broadens understanding and creates discussion around the photography of health and lived experience.
