L.A. Photo Curator 'The Handmade Tale' with jurors Debra Achen & Diana H. Bloomfield

This call is for photographic work that includes a handmade component to help tell your story, whether that means printed in an ‘alternative’ process (e.g., platinum; cyanotype; gum bichromate; carbon; salt, lumen, silver-gelatin, photogravure, anthotype, gumoil)— or any hand-applied technique that adds dimension and meaning to your digital prints (folding, sewing, silver, copper, or gold leaf backing, collage, etc). In this call, an ‘alternative’ technique also includes the creation of work with lensless cameras (pinhole/zone-plate), no cameras (e.g., photograms), or toy cameras (e.g., Holga, Diana, home-made). Both 2-D and 3-D work are welcome. There are so many compelling ways of interpreting your imagery and telling your unique story, meshing technique with content. You are limited only by your imagination. We look forward to seeing your creations! 5% of artist entry fees goes to the charity of the jurors. Another 5% will go to the charity of the first place winner. Bloomfield and Achen have chosen the World Central Kitchen. ALL entrants work is shown on their own page with their artist statement, website info & bio. Early entries may be featured on L.A. Photo Curator's Facebook and Instagram pages. First Place winner receives Q&A with the jurors. Jurors review first place winner. The Q&A is all done online and the results are included in a piece about the artist in L.A.
