The Yesterday Review publishes fiction, non-fiction, flash fiction, poetry, artwork/photography/film/mixed media by both emerging and established writers and artists. We look for the bizarre thoughts you wrote in a document somewhere and forgot about. We like earnestness, outrage, but above all else, raw and undeniably human. The theme for our Issue II is "Our Dead Behind Us". This issue's theme aims to encapsulate the ideas central to marginalised voices, as Audre Lorde explored in her book Our Dead Behind Us the "differences as creative tensions, and the melding of past strength / pain with future hope / fear; the present being the vital catalyst, the motivating force—activism." Simultaneous submissions are fine, but please let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere. You can also submit more than one work but please send them in different documents. We announce themes for each issue, but they are merely rough guidelines – we do not want to limit your creativity and are flexible with form. Include trigger warnings if your work contains sensitive material. A brief third-person bio in the body of the email would also be appreciated, as well as any socials you would want attached to your submission.
