Showing us the remarkable moments that make up the, often unconscious, Human Experience.Juror: Nikos EconomopoulosNikos Economopoulos began his photography career inn 1988 with a long-term project in Greece and Turkey. He photographed whatever he came across on his daily walks: street scenes, public gatherings, solitary meanderers, or deserted landscapes. In 1990 After joining Magnum Economopoulos' photographs began to appear in newspapers and magazines worldwide. In the same year he started to take photographs in Albania, Bulgaria, Romania and the former Yugoslavia, investigating the territorial, ethnic and religious tensions of the region, as well as the endurance of traditional social and religious rites. This work earned him the Mother Jones Award in 1992.

All photographers residing in the United States are invited to submit online one photograph taken in the USA after Jan. 1, 2010 for Camera USA: National Photography Award 2012. The photography exhibition will be open to the public in The von Liebig Art Center June 4 - Aug. 10, 2012. The von Liebig Art Center is located in Naples, Florida in the heart of the 5th Avenue South shopping, dining and arts district. A maximum of 50 photographs will be included in Camera USA: National Photography Award 2012. A $5,000 grand prize award will be presented to one photographer. Winner will also receive two nights hotel accommodations in Naples, Florida and round-trip economy class air fare to attend a preview reception and award presentation on Friday, June 1, 2012. Peter Ashton Jones and Marcus Harvey have long held the view that an artist led painting school could flourish in a climate where there is growing disquiet about the quality of painting tuition, inadequate tutorial input and rise in tuition fees on too many established fine art courses. The Editors feel it is time to respond to this in much the same way that a painting magazine run by practicing painters has fulfilled a need for many painters with a desire for intellectual stimulus and focus in this area.In September 2012, we are launching a unique opportunity for a select group of painters take up residence in their own dedicated studio space within a landmark new arts complex and embark on a 12 month intensive programme of mentoring, dynamic group seminars, talks and lectures. Culminating in a group exhibition in London in 2013. In this studio context we expect to focus on the specific qualities an artist brings with a view to developing their practice. * Entrants must create an original work of art or creative piece around the contest's theme, using ONLY the materials provided in the Mystery Build Kit. * Winners are selected by a panel of judges and online public voting. Over $10,000 in cash prizes. * Upload photos or videos of your creation.* Early submissions are rewarded.* All Mystery Build Kits are identical.* Multiple entries are allowed, however the contents of multiple Kits may not be combined into a single entry. You may use one kit per entry and create one entry per kit.* Enter individually or as a team.* Kits contain a wide range of materials and weigh around 3.5 lbs.* You may add up to 6 oz. of liquids including paint, oil, varnish, ink, dye, food coloring or similar liquids to decorate or enhance the entry. Liquids may not be used for structural elements or as glue, but may only be used as a surface enhancement.* Entrants may use any tools to manipulate the materials in the Kit barring tools that leave behind a physical material, such as a stapler which adds a metal staple.* The theme for Mystery Build 2012 is "Your Favorite Movie."

Too often, creative impulses are set aside to meet the wonderful, but pressing, demands of raising a family. The Sustainable Arts Foundation's goal is to encourage parents to continue pursuing their creative passion, and to rekindle it in those who may have let it slide. The foundation offers unrestricted cash awards to artists and writers with families -- specifically, at least one child under the age of 18. Each year we award approximately $70,000 in two cycles. The deadline for our Spring awards is March 1st.The deadline for our Fall awards is September 1st.
