Awards valuing a total of Thirty Eight Thousand dollars ($38,000) will be distributed as follows, exhibition at our New York art gallery, cash awards, Internet exposure and publicity in ARTisSpectrum magazine. The Bradenton DDA Public Art Advisory Board seeks to commission original art or a series of artworks, that will signify the entrance or access points to the neighborhood known as the Village of the Arts. The Village of the Arts is a community of artists living and working together in a historic neighborhood near downtown Bradenton, Florida. Approximately thirty-five artists studios, galleries, cafes and related businesses are located in its five square blocks. The Bradenton Downtown Development Authority seeks art for key points of entrance into the neighborhood that will communicate the presence of an arts community. It may be a single piece but there is strong interest in the possibility of a series of related pieces, or of multiples. Artwork must be designed to withstand the Florida climate which includes extremes of ultraviolet light, heat, rain, and hurricane force winds. Budget: $50,000. Postmark Deadline: March 15, 2010. In participation with the Minds Wide Open statewide celebration of women in the arts, the gallery is presenting an all-media national and international juried exhibition exclusively for female artists. Our juror, Lillian Fitzgerald, is the director of Fitzgerald Fine Art (FFA). Established in 1983, FFA is an art consulting firm specializing in the collection and exhibition of original works of art. In 2006 Ms. Fitzgerald was awarded a fellowship to the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. A non-refundable fee of $35.00 must accompany each entry form. $10.00 fee for each additional art work submitted. Exhibition dates: April 3 - 25, 2010. Please join us in our anniversary celebration by submitting your work for this exhibition! A silent auction will be held of artwork from our represented artists at the opening reception! National and International artists are welcome to submit artwork for this exhibition. The exhibition is not juried. All artwork submitted will be shown. More info and 10 Featured Artist Awards will be chosen from this exhibition by Zeina Assaf. Ms. Assaf is the director of the New York Studio Gallery. She is a well known independent curator in the city, as well. The gallery will publish an exhibition catalogue that will include work from the show of the 10 artists. The 10 artists will be featured on the gallery’s website. Every artist in the exhibition will have a listing in the catalogue with one thumbnail image. All of the artists in the show will be archived in the past exhibitions pages on the gallery’s website. EACH ARTIST MAY SUBMIT 3 PIECES PER SUBMISSION FOR THE SHOW • No piece larger than 12 x 12 inches, or 30 x 30cm will be accepted • Any type of work in any medium may be submitted such as paintings on any type of ground (e.g. canvas, paper, or other), photography, prints, collage, drawing, or any 3d work than can hang on a wall. Framing is not required. All work will hang on a wall. No freestanding work will be accepted at this time. 3-D artists, watch for our tabletop assemblage exhibition set for May, 2010.

"Artists' books are books, or book-like objects, over the final appearance of which an artist has had a high degree of control; where the book is intended as a work of art in itself." Stephen Bury. 10 Featured Artist Awards will be chosen from this exhibition by Maddy Rosenberg. Ms. Rosenberg is Curator and Executive Director of CENTRAL BOOKING, a gallery and cultural nexus devoted to the Art of the Book in NYC. National and international artists may submit artwork for this exhibition. Full information can be found on the gallery's website. EACH ARTIST MAY SUBMIT 2 ARTIST’S BOOKS PER SUBMISSION FOR THIS EXHIBITION • Generally, no book should be larger than can be displayed on a 12 inch (30cm) high podium style display, or that cannot lay conveniently on a table. Any type or style of artist book including foldouts, accordion style (concertinas), scrolls, or loose pages contained in a box, and in any medium utilizing any sort of ground, or page materials, may be submitted. All sorts of binding are welcome. Books that are purely creative text are welcome. However, books that are meant to be read, as say a novel or where the text alone is the key to the content of the book, and having no extra-creative aspect about them, will be rejected. 2010 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Awards

Each year the International Sculpture Center presents an award competition to its member colleges and universities as a means of supporting, encouraging, and recognizing the work of young sculptors and their supporting schools’ faculty and art program. The Student Award winners participate in an exhibition at Grounds For Sculpture, as well as a traveling exhibition hosted by arts organizations across the country. Winners’ work is also featured in Sculpture magazine. Each winner receives a one-year membership at the ISC and all winners are eligible to apply for a full sponsored residency to study in Switzerland. This year’s jury includes Rocio Aranda-Alvarado, Oliver Herring and Creighton Michael.To nominate students for this competition, the nominees’ university must first be an ISC University level member. University Membership costs $200 for universities in the USA, Canada and Mexico, or $220 for international universities, and includes a number of benefits.
